Steep-sloped roofing products — including asphalt shingles, metal roofs, wood shake roofs, tile roofs, and slate roofs

Low — sloped roofing products: Modified Bitumen, EPDM, and TPO

ASPHALT SHINGLES:
Asphalt shingles are obviously the most commonly applied type of roofing in North America. You can drive up and down every street and see asphalt roofing on many structures. Asphalt roofing is generally cheap for the length of time it lasts and is easy to install in a short amount of time. Also, many asphalt products come in an Impact Resistant form for better performance in a hail storm.
3-tab               This style of shingle is exactly as it is stated. It’s a shingle with 3-tabs showing to the weather. We usually estimate this type of roof as a 25-year material warranty, but there are 30-year 3-tabs available. Some companies offer a 20-year 3-tab, but Expert Roofing will typically not warranty a 20-year 3-tab roof.
Laminated     This is the most commonly installed shingle in this area as it typically offers the most “bang for the buck” because of its design, specifications and price. It is basically two shingle sheets laminated together to make one heavier duty shingle. It would commonly resemble a wood shingle type roof with virtually no pattern to it. Sometimes, it is also referred to as a “Timberline” style roof.
There are many other types of asphalt shingles available that meet several specifications for your needs.

METAL:
Metal is a popular choice if you’re looking to combat the elements, especially wind. Most metal roofing systems take a considerably longer time to install compared to asphalt roofing depending on the complexity of the project. Prices for metal roofs can vary dramatically due to steepness of the roof, how complex the layout of the roof is and how much custom fabrication is needed.
Low rib panels:
This is the most common type of metal roofing and is an exposed fastener type system. It is typically ordered to fit the job and comes in three-foot sections by whatever length is needed.
Modernized, decorative style panels:
There are many other metal roofing systems out there available that are made to look like other products like shingles, wood, tile, etc. These products vary wildly in price and application specifications. If you find a product you really like, please call us and will estimate your job for that product or one similar that is available through a local wholesaler.

WOOD SHAKES AND SHINGLES:
These types of products are becoming less popular because of their price to install versus longevity of the product. Also, most insurance companies charge a significant amount more to insure the roof because of possibility of a fire. That being said, there are many types of wood roofs available. Wood still has a very rustic beauty to it that people love. If you are one of these people, we can easily install a new wood roof of your choice.

TILE:
Tile roofing offers style and longevity. Tile comes in many textures, colors and weights. The two most common types of tile installed are clay and concrete. Weight of the roofing system is the main concern for tile. A majority of homes were not designed to handle heavyweight tile. Lightweight versions of concrete tile are available, and we have installed both heavy and lightweight tile on several homes in the area.
A good tile job makes your home have great curb appeal, and the concrete or clay material lasts significantly longer than asphalt roofing. Many manufacturers offer very good material warranties on these products.

SLATE
The ultimate for roof longevity, the slate roof has a certain prowess to it that says luxury. There are slate roofs around the world that have been around for over a century or more, and are still performing properly.

New England Slate

If real slate is not in your budget or if your home cannot handle the weight of real slate, there are composite roofing options available that are made to look like slate. These products will obviously not last as long as real slate, but do offer the look and appeal of real slate.

Flat roofing products
MODIFIED BITUMEN
Modified asphalt is a tried and true flat roofing. It performs fantastically for the price and is a very thick and rugged product that can withstand items or tools being dropped on it without risk of puncturing the membrane. The membranes come in a smooth surface and a granular surface version to match shingle roofs and also to add longevity against the sun’s UV rays. They come in three foot wide rolls, making them easy to load onto any roof without the need for a crane. Some modified membranes are also energy star rated.
SBS Modified Bitumen
This type of modified asphalt roofing can be hot applied with melted tar or cold applied using a proper adhesive or some self-adhered versions are available also.
APP Modified Bitumen
This type of modified asphalt roofing is also called “torch down” in the industry. It is super heated quickly with a propane torch before it is pressed onto a proper underlayment.

EPDM AND TPO
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer)
This material is most often referred to as a “rubber” roof. Rubber roofing has been used for a long time on homes and business. It is often installed on large commercial projects because of the enormous sheets of this material that can be applied at one time, covering a large area. It is seamed together with tape to form one solid roof membrane. It comes in a variety of thicknesses depending on job specifications.
TPO ( Thermoplastic Polyolefi n)
Designed like rubber, this material is a fairly newer product in the flat roofing world compared to EPDM and Modified. It is most noticeable as ultra bright white sheets of roofing that are heat welded together to form one solid roof membrane. It is noted for its energy star ratings as it has a very high solar reflective index.
